Some sessions just feel like magic from the start – and this one definitely did! Taryn and Mike came out to our property on the most perfect snowy afternoon. Big, soft flakes were falling, the forest was peaceful and quiet, and everything felt like a winter fairytale. We wandered the trails together, with fresh snow crunching underfoot. Taryn and Mike totally leaned into the winter vibe – throwing snow, playing like kids, laughing the whole time. It was the kind of shoot that reminds me why I love photographing couples: not just to capture how they look together, but how they feel together. This one felt extra special because I photographed Taryn’s sister’s wedding years ago. It’s always such an honour to be invited back into a family’s life and to witness these next big milestones! Since they’re getting married in June, we loved the idea of doing something completely opposite for their engagement session. So we went with cozy and snowy instead of sunny and warm. To add to the somewhat nostalgic feel of playing in the snow, Taryn and Mike opted to add a handful of rolls of film for this session. I think they are an amazing addition! There’s just something about film in the snow – soft, dreamy, and timeless. If you’re dreaming of your own engagement session – wintery or not – I’m always up for creating something that feels like you. Whether we’re wandering forest trails in Northumberland or dancing through city streets in Toronto, I’d love to help tell your story! 👉 Curious what a full session looks like when shot entirely on film?
