Cancun Mexico Wedding - nose to nose portrait

Tubi and Wayne know how to gather all the best people together and how to throw a damn good party!

They brought all their closest family and friends down to Cancun, Mexico for their party filled, beach wedding weekend! They are both extremely outgoing and personable, it was easy to connect with them at a wedding in the past. Where we quickly started chatting about travelling and our next destinations. When they reached out 6 months later and said they were planning their wedding at the Royalton in Cancun I jumped on the chance to join them and document their special day! Tubi and Wayne are currently hiking and swimming their way around New Zealand for their honeymoon! Can’t wait to see where life takes these two kind souls next!

Meet the couple

How did you and Wayne decide on Cancun, Mexico?

We’ve always loved to travel and knew we wanted a relatively small wedding so we decided to have a destination wedding! We got engaged on a beach and have always loved the sun, sand and sea so we decided it would be fitting to have a beach wedding as well. We decided on Mexico because of it’s beautiful resorts, tourist attractions for guests and mostly logistics for our guests flying in from Asia!

A little about your and Wayne’s love story?

We both swiped right on Tinder and finally decided to meet up one Halloween, and from there we steadily fell and continue to fall in love with each other more and more everyday. We’re very opposite people, Wayne’s grounded and predictable, while I’m a ball of nerves and crave new adventurous so we encourage and balance each other out in a lot of ways. At the end of the day, our core values are the same and that’s what really matters!

What were the top 3 most important things to you both when planning?

Really the 3 most important things to us were our friends and family being there especially family from Asia.

The location – we wanted sun, nature and string lights! Food, we’re both foodies so food was important to us even though there was very little control at the hotel.

Dress Designers – I had no clue what I was looking for when I started looking for dresses. I originally wanted a boho dress that was flowy and lacy and somehow I ended up in a princess dress and a fit and flare dress which were both opposites of what I had started out looking for! My ceremony dress was from Avenue 22 and my reception from Jealous Bridesmaids. Both my dresses ended up being from designer Sottero and Midgley which I didn’t even know until now!

Suit – Wayne wanted something that would be light and airy since Mexico was bound to be hot. He got it from Indochino and Tip Top

Shoes – I was looking for something classically bridal and white but something I could wear again. My dream pair of shoes were the classic Manolo Blahniks but I was concerned with the sand and water elements. I ended up finding my dream shoes 2 weeks before the wedding, they were the one and only pair so I figured it was meant to be!

Jewellery or other accessories – were all florally and dreamy!
