a celestial inspired Canadian elopement
I had the privilege of documenting these gorgeous humans for a styled, cozy, Canadian Spring elopement. Dancing With Her Magazine featured this beautiful elopement inspiration in their Volume 10 edition and I couldn't be more thrilled to have these beauties grace the pages to inspire others with this intimate affair.
If you're from Canada, you know that the early Spring isn't the most beautiful time of the year. There's still a bite in the air and the weather can be quite gloomy. But our venue, the Braestone Club made for the perfect backdrop for the cozy vibes the vendors and I were trying to create. The ceremony space was styled with comfy lounge chairs and we had the couple seated to exchange their "vows" over wine - what could be better!?
We had the couple dressed in a rental dress and jumpsuit from The Fitzroy and topped Kris' jumpsuit with a comfortable, loose sweater which I truly believed elevated the feeling we were hoping to capture.
To add to the cozy and celestial vibes throughout the shoot, we covered the space in candles of all sizes and a murky, earthy colour palette, was used for florals by The Little Flower Shed Co. Vases were placed throughout the space filled with both fresh and dried flowers - a perfect blend of texture and drama! It was a unique way to elevate the already warm space. Additionally, orb lamps on the dining table added a romantic atmosphere – a funky style of lamp not often seen at a wedding was the perfect accent to the candles that sprawled across the floors, tables and window sills.
"Small celestial nods created a 'larger than life' love story. The idea that the universe is on our sides as we connect with people who are meant to help us grow and evolve and love in ways we could never have imagined, inspired the details. The stained glass moons for place settings [by Paula Lib] and the gold star confetti scattered across the tables, moon necklaces, a vintage wooden moon tray for the ceremony lounge and moon/star headpieces are just a few of the elements that brought this [theme] together."
As Dancing With Her states, "Claire and Kris' relationship has inspired them both to understand true love. They didn't fall in love with each other based on a stereotype, expectation, or gender. They fell in love seamlessly and effortlessly." The exact way it should be!
I want to say a special 'Thank You!' to all the vendors that were a part of this special shoot, to Claire and Kris for being absolutely perfect models and for 'Dancing with Her' for featuring this shoot in their magazine.
