This couples session turned engagement shoot was so special to me for so many reasons. Not only have I been close friends with Courtney for over ten years, but Courtney had a special surprise in mind when it came to this shoot, and it wasn’t just drinking coffee and snuggling with her favourite person.
I always feel so honoured when a couple invites me into their home – where they feel the most comfortable and most like themselves and even though I already personally know Courtney and Mackenzie, it’s still special nonetheless.
Their home is so beautifully curated and cozy, with sweet personal touches, it was the perfect backdrop for this relaxed shoot. One of my favourite aspects of their space was seeing all the little sticky notes they leave for each other.
This session represented them in the best ways. It was filled with intimate snuggles in their PJs, hot coffee, and heartfelt moments, but the session didn’t end there. Little did Mackenzie know, Courtney had a very special question to ask her!
Courtney told me she wanted to propose to Mackenzie during our time together and asked me when she should do it. I told her to go with the flow and pop the question when she felt the moment was right.
As we moved around their apartment, the girls nestled on the couch, and Courtney leaned into Mackenzie and asked her to marry her. The moment was so natural yet emotional, as Mackenzie began to tear up. Both of them were glowing with happiness and excitement and I absolutely loved capturing these moments for them.
If you're in the process of planning a couple's session, engagement shoot or even a couples session turned engagement shoot (*wink wink*), don't overthink it. Try something like this. You and your person lounging at home, doing what you love most. There's nothing better than capturing those candid moments for my couples. Here's another session I did with one of my other couples at their home.
