Muskoka Wedding at Bigwin - Kathryn + Bryce

What were some of your favourite moments from the weekend?
K - Our ceremony was one of my favorite memories from the weekend! I was so emotional but in the best way! I will never forget that moment with Bryce. I also think having everyone in Muskoka to experience what I had talked about my entire life was so special. I think it clicked for everyone in the sense that they understood why we spent so much time there every year. Lastly - Jenn & Nicole capturing our entire weekend was so special. I had so much fun working with them - they captured literally every second of our whole weekend and moments that I did not see so that piece of it was incredibly special. Forever grateful for our photos!

B - One of my favorite memories was the ceremony and being able to share our love for one another in a beautiful place in front of our friends and family. Overall - being able to experience Muskoka and our entire weekend with all of our favorite people was so much fun. It was great to be able to share those moments with everyone.

Kathryn and Bryce's Muskoka wedding at Bigwin Island Golf Club didn't just start there...

This Muskoka-loving duo from Denver, brought all their closest friends and family to Muskoka for a weekend filled with connection, big laughs, dance parties and a whole lot of love.

Port Cunnington Lodge was the perfect place to host almost all their guests and give them a weekend of adult summer camp. Think, 'Baby at Camp Kellerman's in Dirty Dancing'; swimming and canoeing, laying by the beach, hanging with friends, the works.

Jump to Saturday; wedding day. Bryce and his pals hung by the beach at Port Cunnington Lodge, jumping off the platforms, enjoying the sunshine and a few cold drinks before getting ready and hopping on a boat to take them over to Bigwin Island Golf Club. Here is where Kathryn began her day, relaxing in one of the beautiful, newly designed, Scandavian-inspired, cabins with her girlfriends.

After the couple's first look which was all smiles and big laughs, we headed straight into their ceremony. The outdoor ceremony at Big Win Island Golf Club was an absolutely stunning location for Kathryn and Bryce to say their 'I do's'. The old stone fireplaces were left standing after a large fire destroyed the original building. These fireplaces served as the perfect anchor for the gorgeous floral installation created by Hunt & Gather.

Following the ceremony the pair made things official by signing their legal documents on the old, but newly restored Bigwin steamship (this boat sat at the bottom of the lake for almost 20 years before being pulled up and completely redone!). The boat was such a fun place to take some intimate photos of the couple before they were immersed in the rest of the day's party.

And party it was! From the cocktail hour on the water's edge, to great speeches and big laughs all reception long, to an EPIC dance party late into the night. I later heard, Kathryn performed an entire karaoke rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody!

I was so glad that the party didn't end there, as we got to spend the afternoon at Kathryn's family cottage the following day. Soaking up the sun on the dock, recounting the previous day while sipping on caesars, which Kathryn of course had to introduce to all the Americans!

It was a perfect Muskoka wedding and summer weekend spent with incredible people and it won't be a weekend I soon forget! Thank you Kathryn and Bryce for welcoming us into your inner circle and sharing your story with us!

How did you decided on Bigwin?

I (Kathryn) spent my summers growing up on Lake of Bays. We moved a lot when I was young and our cottage was always the one staple place we would return to every year. I am originally Canadian and so my entire family is there. Early on into dating, I dragged Bryce up to the cottage and he never looked back. We always had talked about it being a special place to get married so it was a no-brainer that it was the first place we considered when we got engaged. It’s a special place!

Any advice for other couples planning their wedding?

Keep things in perspective. One of the first things Bryce and I talked about when we started planning the wedding was to focus on what really mattered. We knew there were going to be days where we were stressed and would bicker but at the end of the day, we told ourselves to take a step back and think about what the weekend really meant. My advice would be to set those intentions when you start the planning process.
We would also say - take advantage of the time you have (if you have it). We had about a year and a half long engagement and it was so nice to be able to enjoy the time being engaged but also have enough time to plan. We knocked off as much as we could in the beginning so that when things really picked up we had a lot behind us! We have to give a shout-out to Lexi our wedding planner because she made the process absolutely seamless. Lexi is the GOAT.

What was most important to you when planning your wedding?

When thinking about our wedding, Bryce and I wanted to make sure it was an experience for everyone. We really wanted everyone to feel like they could use the destination aspect of our wedding as a vacation! Most of our guests had never even been to Canada so we thought about every detail to make it a true “weekend experience” for our people. Everyone had the opportunity to come in early and or extend their stay and enjoy living on the water for a few days. It was exactly what we wanted! We ended up calling the weekend “Camp Parietti”
