A Friday night engagement session is best when it’s complete with wine, whiskey, pizza, and cuddles on a secluded beach. That was the case with Melanie and Julian. I felt so lucky to be invited into their home to spend a cozy Friday evening with them.

Melanie started the evening by opening a bottle of rosé, and Julian sipped a whiskey while I captured the two of them snuggling on the couch, listening to some of their favourite music. The music playing led Julian to bring out his guitar. Apparently, this is a normal occurrence when they’re at home and it was truly as cute as it looks.

Of course, what’s a perfect Friday night without pizza? After some cuddles and another few sips of wine, we went down the street to Melanie and Julian’s favourite pizza shop, Son of a Peach. They ordered a pizza and cuddled up in the alleyway behind the shop. The alley was giving total European vibes which made this portion of the shoot extra romantic!

Following the pizza eating – and yes they ate all the pizza, of course, we wandered over to a small beach along Lake Ontario where Mel and Julian popped a bottle of champagne. Unfortunately, the weather was slightly gloomy but it worked in our favour, leaving the beach deserted just for us. The gloomy sky was cool and moody, adding to the romance these two were oozing.

If you’re struggling to come up with ideas for your upcoming engagement session, don’t discourage having it at your own home. Think about what you and your partner love to do at home. Cook, sip wine on your deck, play games, and even eat pizza! The happier and more comfortable you are, the better your photos will be!
